About us

In establishing ‘NortheRN'  30 research agencies attended a workshop sponsored by Service Network and supported by the MRS.  Participants identified a number of key issues:

 

  • Northern business invests less in professional research
  • Diverse public Infrastructure and awareness of the contemporary profession
  • Lower perceived value of expertise
  • The challenge of securing diverse experience and retaining skills in the North
  • Applying standards in marketing, research, and intelligence professions
  • Improving vocational training opportunities in the North.

 

Our task is to ‘Make Research Count' across the north, and help:

 

  • Provide access to broader experience
  • Support ‘lone researchers'/ Niche operators
  • Improve retention
  • Improve awareness/ use of Northern skills
  • Increase accessibility to national agenda's
  • Share best practice
  • Work with economic agenda's (Northern Way)
  • Build collaborative community
  • Increase competitiveness of Northern research
